About

My professional career has been in teaching, where I’ve been able to weave my love of all things outdoors into my work routine. Coupled with this has been a lifelong passion for gardening, handed down to me from my mother and developed in my own gardens in a variety of locations. These have given me the opportunity to create and nurture veggie patches and flower gardens, replenish borders and address all the seasonal jobs needing the attention they require for the plants to be the best they can be.

I have also worked in the plant nursery of a local and very well-established landscape gardening company, managing and making the most of a full catalogue of plants.

As a Forest School leader for the last 20 years, my interest in the environment, its sustainability and richness has been allowed to develop, sharing this and more with children of all ages.

Amongst other things, I’ve learned the important role gardens and woodland spaces play in maintaining a healthy wellbeing and have always relished the opportunity to continue learning about all things that grow.

Leaving teaching this summer for a new direction, The Mindful Gardener is about keeping this strong link with my happy place, whilst encouraging others to join me in making that connection too.
